Lucy (Bullock) is a neurotic but dedicated Chief Counsel for George Wade (Grant), a self-absorbed but charming millionaire, and his corporation. Lucy becomes more of a nanny than an employee when George begins to call her night and day, needing her opinion just to function; he even calls her in the middle of a wedding to help him pick out a suit. Lucy finally gives her two weeks notice, and George reluctantly agrees to let her go if she can find her own replacement. Conflict arises as the replacement (Alicia Witt) catches George's eye and strikes some unexpected jealousy within Lucy and becomes an eye-opener for George.
