Home Welcome to Rescued, the only approved fanlisting for animal shelters. Animal shelters, as long as they are ethically run, are great alternatives to pet shops. While pet shops usually contain healthy animals, animal shelters contain animals truly in need of good homes. Pet shops refuse to take animals with any known health conditions and so they get put down. With animal shelters, these animals have a nice place to stay until they hopefully find a good home.PETA points out that "the ideal shelter is a true safe haven for lost, injured, abused, and unwanted animals. It receives adequate funding from the jurisdiction that it serves, and no animal is ever knowingly given to a laboratory, guard dog company, or unqualified or cruel guardian.
