Welcome to And It Was Golden, the approved fanlisting for music genre Rock and Roll (or Rock 'N' Roll). Rock and Roll is not the same as Rock (which is more contemporary) or Alternative. Rock and Roll applies to a specific genre that developed during the 1950s and lasted until the 1960s called The Golden Decade. It lasted from approximately 1954-1963 and its pioneers included artists such as Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers and The Beatles. Rock and Roll has its roots in Blues, Country, and Rhythm and Blues while it was influenced by genres such as Bluegrass, Boogie-Woogie, Jazz and Rockabilly.
