Welcome to Special "F" Words, the approved fanlisting for the comedy/drama film My First Mister. I like to think of this movie as a hidden treasure because not many have heard of it, and even less have seen it.


Jennifer (also known as 'J,' played by Leelee Sobieski) is a hair-dying, self-mutilating, pierced and tattooed teenager in search of her own self-identity while trying to deal with her oblivious mother and practically non-existent step-father. She is the stereotyped teenager: anti-social, angst-ridden and infatuated with death. She even talks to her dead grandmother at the dinner table. Randall (known as 'R,' played by Albert Brooks) is a quiet, lonely, 47-year-old man, dedicated to his job and routine lifestyle. However, he constantly engrosses himself into the fantasy world of his magazines. J and R come across each other when R hires reluctantly, to work in his retail store. Randall is able to see through J's gothy exterior, and J is able to see through R's seemingly 'average Joe' appearance. This unlikely pair forms a heart-warming friendship, filling the empty spaces in each other's lives.
