Welcome to Beautifully Disturbing
You have stumbled upon the fanlisting for the rivalry between Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac in both Anne Rice's
Vampire Chronicles book series and the movie
Interview with the Vampire (1994). Lestat and Louis at first have what one could call a "caring" relationship. After Lestat brought Louis into his world, he had to mentor him and teach him the ways of a vampire. It is evident Louis does care for Lestat, and vice versa depsite the way it may appear, but he soon realizes he is quite different from Lestat: he has a soul. He despises the violent, torturous and greedy nature of Lestat, wishing to separate himself from a life he now cannot forgive Lestat for giving him. In spite of Lestat's attempts to keep Louis by his side, Louis continues to battle with him and later tries to save Claudia from the clutches of evil.
Although the rivalry that exists between Lestat and Louis may not be excessively violent or even consistent, it does indeed exist. We see Louis struggle to get away from Lestat, who he once found intriguing and illustrious, but who has also shattered mortal dreams. This oxymoronic relationship is somehow appealing. Its disturbance is almost... beautiful. This is a fanlisting for all those who share this point of view and are fans of this Lestat versus Louis rivalry.
