"Robert Gant was most recently seen on the WB's Popular as the eccentric vice principal. His other television work includes guest-starring roles on Friends, Caroline in the City, Veronica's Closet, Becker, Melrose Place and Ellen. He also appeared in the independent film The
Contract and in the recently released Fits and Starts.
Gant began acting in television commercials at the age of 10. At 11, he found himself doing a soft-shoe routine with Bob Hope as part of his USO tour.
Following high school, Gant headed to the University of Pennsylvania and then on to Georgetown Law School. While studying law, he never gave up on his true passion of acting and continued to perform in numerous theatrical productions.
He moved to Los Angeles to work in the world's largest law firm. In a twist of fate, four months after his relocation, the Los Angeles office closed. Taking that as an omen, he made the decision to focus all of his time on his acting and has been working ever since."

In 2002-2003, Gant graced television screens every week as part of the cast of Showtime’s hit television series, “Queer as Folk.” On the show, Robert plays writer and college professor, Ben Bruckner.
Just Prior to "Queer As Folk," he recurred on the WB’s “Popular” as the eccentric Principal, Calvin Krupps. Gant has also had many notable guest spots on such TV hits as “Friends,” where he played one of two gorgeous men Lisa Kudrow’s character was dating simultaneously, “Caroline in the City” where he recurred as Caroline’s boyfriend, Trevor, “Veronica’s Closet,” “Becker,” “Melrose Place,” “Ellen,” and "Providence." He also appeared in the independent film “The Contract” and the soon-to-be-released “Fits and Starts.”
In May 2003, Bobby was cast in the independent film, "Marie and Bruce," starring Julianne Moore and Matthew Broderick. And in June, Bobby was the recipient of a special civil rights award presented to him in New York's City Hall. Other recipients were Sharon Gless and Gale Harold, also of "Queer as Folk," along with "Chicago" director Rob Marshall and Steven Daldry.
