Let the Voices Be Heard, the only approved
fanlisting for activism. Gay rights, animal rights, women's rights, pro-choice, anti-racism, anti-fascism, anti-war... there are endless causes people have faught for in the past and are fighting for today. Activism requires passion, dedication, determination and ambition. Someone willing to fight for what they believe in, whether they attend protests, hand out leaflets or stickers, make web sites or documentaries, is truly admirable. One of the activist heroes I always think of is Michael Moore. I think his displayed quite well what should be at the heart of activism in his documentary
Bowling for Columbine, including patience, will and energy. He has been a real inspiration for my own activism.
I think activism is one of life's most important tools. Without the voices of different people supporting different causes, society would remain static. Activism has inspired entire movements in history. Women would still not have the right to vote, homosexuality would still be considered "sexual deviance," more animals would continued to be tortured. I think activism has both individual and collective power; furthermore, the voice of one individual can inspire the voices of millions. Think of Rosa Parks when she refused to sit at the back of the bus. The collective power that can be achieved when a group of people come together is phenomenal. I think activism brings people together, and working towards a common goal encourages bonding. If you too are a fan of activism and have causes that you support, feel free to join this listing.
