Brian's (GALE HAROLD) oncologist gives him a clean bill of health but insists him he take it easy. In an attempt to repair the devastation fund-raiser Jeffrey Pendergrass (PETER KELEGHAN) left in his wake, Brian obtains Remson Pharmaceuticals' sponsorship to participate in the Liberty Ride-to the tune of $100,000. Against his concerned friends' wishes, Brian starts to train for the Ride but quickly becomes exhausted and has trouble keeping up with the others in his spin class.

Emmett (PETER PAIGE) tries to forget Drew (MATT BATTAGLIA), which is no simple task now that images of him as the Brown Athletics underwear model are plastered all over town. Seems it's just as hard for Drew to forget Emmett, as his game is off, he hasn't been able to sleep, etc. He finds Emmett at Debbie's (SHARON GLESS) and tells him he misses him. Later at the motel, Emmett asks Drew when he plans on telling Sierra about them. Drew doesn't think anyone has to know. Emmett finds he has a tough decision to make-is he willing to live a lie?

Things are quickly heating up between Hunter (HARRIS ALLAN) and his new girlfriend, Callie (MEREDITH HENDERSON). The relationship becomes sexual, and in an intimate moment Callie asks Hunter if he has a condom. Hunter reveals to Callie that he's HIV positive and finds her sympathetic to his situation. But her parents are outraged when they discover the news in Callie's journal. They angrily confront Michael (HAL SPARKS) and Ben (ROBERT GANT) believing they should have told them. Michael and Ben stand by Hunter-they believe he acted responsibly. Callie's parents forbid her to see Hunter ever again.

Melanie (MICHELLE CLUNIE), still angry over Lindsay's (THEA GILL) infidelity with Auerbach (ROBIN THOMAS) can't find a way to forgive her. She tries to be civilized at home in hope of maintaining a sense of order. But when Lindsay misreads Melanie's attempt at communication as forgiveness, Melanie sets her straight. Melanie will always feel that she is not enough for her. When the tension between them causes Melanie to double over in pain, she's rushed to the hospital.
