Episode Queer As Folk: Season 2Episode #18 Teleplay by: Matt Pykin & Michael Berns Story by: Ron Cowen & Daniel Lipman and Matt Pykin & Michael Berns Directed by: Alex Chapple Justin returns from his solo ski trip to find Brian fucking the "Catch of the Day". Although this behavior is part of their arrangement, it disappoints Justin once again. Justin later bumps into the violinist, Ethan. When they first met he was playing in the symphony. Justin is surprised to now find him playing on the street for change. Ben collapses while teaching. Michael rushes to see Ben in the hospital. A reaction to his new meds has caused pancreatitis. The next day the entire gang shows up at Michael's apartment to show their support, minus Debbie. Michael insists he can handle this himself, but Brian can sense that this is beginning to take a toll on Michael, physically and mentally. The next day Justin and Ethan have a romantic picnic style dinner at Ethan's run down, yet charming apartment. He tells Justin that his last boyfriend was all about the two of them going out to clubs and picking up guys but it wasn't what he wanted - he wanted someone to call his own. Justin stands by the belief that Brian imposed on him - "I don't believe in romance." But hearing Ethan's definition of the perfect relationship leads Justin to reconsider his. Emmett and Melanie prepare for the legal battle with the Schickel Family over George's estate. The Schickel legal team makes Emmett and Mel an offer of one million dollars in exchange for his signature on a document that denies any relationship with George. Emmett decides that what he and George had was special and was never about money-he refuses the offer. Michael hasn't told Debbie about Ben's illness. The last thing he wants to hear is, "I told you so". When Vic finally tells her what's happened, Debbie goes to the hospital with chicken broth for Ben. Michael arrives to find his mother tenderly caring for Ben. Ben eventually recovers, but he and Michael both know that things will never really be the same again. Brian comes home to find Justin has prepared a romantic picnic style dinner like the one he had with Ethan. Brian would rather go out and tells Justin he's too young to settle down. Justin responds by telling Brian that he is too old to fuck around. A fight ensues and Brian leaves. Spurned, Justin goes out to find comfort in Ethan's arms. Source: showcase.ca |
