Episode Teleplay by: Michael MacLennanStory by: Ron Cowen & Daniel Lipman and Michael MacLennan Directed by: Kevin Inch It’s PRIDE weekend in Pittsburgh!! Everyone is preparing to show their PRIDE in the annual parade – a first for Justin. Debbie’s ecstatic that her son, Michael, has finally found the courage to participate by agreeing to march front and center with her in the P-FLAG contingent. Emmett’s looking forward to marching with one of his first friends in Pittsburgh, the legendary drag queen Godiva. Lindsay and Melanie plan to march with the Gay Marriage Initiative. Ted’s PRIDE weekend looks to be his best, when he’s picked up by the hunky Troy. Brian won’t march, but he does plan to celebrate (translation: fuck as much as he can), just as soon as he designs a marketing plan for the notoriously homophobic president of Poole Beverages. Debbie has to swallow her PRIDE when Michael backs out at the last minute. He’s afraid of being spotted by his homophobic co-workers from the Big Q. Emmett’s spirits also plummet, when Vic informs him that Godiva has died at the AIDS hospice. While visiting the hospice, Justin is accosted by his attacker Chris Hobbs. Hobbs is there for his community service sentence – Justin is shaken, and starting to second-guess his decision to march. Ted’s PRIDE is also hurt, when he learns that he was merely Troy’s good deed for the weekend – a pity fuck. Lindsay and Melanie are shaken up by the arrival of Mel’s sexy ex – Leda. Melanie would love to forego her dull commitment to marching with the Marriage Initiative in favor of riding with Leda and the Dykes on Bikes for old times’ sake. Lindsay thinks the Initiative is important, not dull, and she confides in Brian that she feels threatened by Leda. Lindsay also tells Brian that he should be ashamed of working for Poole Beverages. Poole’s money is as good as anyone’s for Brian. Emmett hatches a plan to see Godiva march again and make Michael’s mother proud. Debbie’s heart leaps when her son joins the parade in fabulous drag (in Godiva’s dress, of course). Brian convinces Justin to march as well – so that the Hobbs of the world won’t win. Brian won’t let Poole Beverages win either. His campaign will save the company, but only by marketing to the gay community, and only if Poole makes a contribution to the Gay Marriage Initiative. The Initiative will have to do without Lindsay this year, she’s decided to let her inhibitions go and join Mel, Leda, and the rest of the Dykes on Bikes. Swept up in the spirit, Ted bravely re-enters the dating scene. It seems no one can resist the contagious celebration of PRIDE! Source: Showcase.ca |
